These are two interface options for the same client. Choose the one that suits your preferences. Both downloads are for x64 Windows; check your system architecture before downloading.

On Windows, v2rayN provides a graphical interface for managing servers, updating subscriptions, configuring routes and controlling the system proxy. The Desktop edition has a newer cross-platform interface for users who want a similar experience across desktop platforms. The WPF edition retains the classic Windows layout for users familiar with its menus. There’s no need to install both.

Windows system requirements and how to choose

If you downloaded an archive, extract it to the folder where you plan to keep the client, then run the installer from there. Don’t run it from the archive preview. On first launch, import your subscription link or server configuration. If you don’t have a subscription yet, installing the client won’t add any servers automatically. Configure the system proxy and routing mode for your needs.

After installation

From installer to working connection

Downloading installs the client only. Server configurations, subscription updates and the system proxy each have their own controls. Follow the steps in order to make issues easier to troubleshoot.

A / IMPORT

Add a server configuration

If you have a subscription link, add a group under Subscription Groups in the client, enter the link, then update the subscription. If you only have details for one server, use Add Server and enter the address, port and transport settings for its protocol. The installer does not include a server address.

B / SELECT

Check the protocol and routing

Choose an imported server and confirm its protocol matches the configuration you were given, then select a routing mode if needed. Changing routing only affects how traffic is matched; it won’t fix an incorrect server address or settings. For your first setup, keep the configuration simple and easy to verify.

C / ENABLE

Connect and configure the system proxy

Start the connection, then decide whether to enable the system proxy. On desktop, find the relevant settings in the client menu or system tray; on Android, follow the system’s network connection prompt. If your browser and terminal behave differently, check their proxy settings separately.

Choosing an installer and getting started

First check for a mismatch in operating system, package format or processor architecture. Then review the client setup steps.

Which should you choose: v2rayN Desktop or Classic WPF?

The Desktop edition features a newer cross-platform interface and is a good choice for a fresh install. Classic WPF keeps the familiar Windows layout. Both are v2rayN; install just one. If you already have a preference, choose the version with the menu layout you know. New users can start with Desktop.

Which macOS installer should you download: Apple Silicon or Intel?

Open About This Mac from the Apple menu and check the chip or processor. Choose Apple Silicon for an Apple M-series chip, or Intel for an Intel processor. The two DMGs are for different hardware and are unrelated to your subscription or the client’s display language.

What’s the difference between Android arm64 and Universal?

Most mainstream Android phones released after 2015 can use arm64. Choose Universal if you’re unsure of your device’s architecture or the arm64 build isn’t compatible. Install just one APK per client, choosing the build that suits your device. v2rayNG and v2flyNG are separate clients.

Should you choose deb or rpm for Linux?

Choose deb for Debian, Ubuntu and other distributions that use deb packages; choose rpm for Fedora, RHEL and related distributions. Then select x64 or arm64 to match your processor. Package format and architecture are separate requirements; if either doesn’t match, choose a different installer.

Why can’t I connect right after installing the client?

First import a working server configuration or subscription link, then select a server and configure the system proxy. The installer does not include server configurations. If you’ve imported your configuration but still can’t connect, check the server settings, connection status, routing mode and system proxy in that order. For details, see the Getting Started Guide.
